Over 10 Million People Rang In the New Year With Facebook Live

Usage of Facebook Live reached record levels this New Years Eve providing more evidence of how popular live-streaming via social networks have become.


Facebook introduced it’s Live With feature in May, enabling users to invite guests to join their livestreams. The number of people using the feature on New Year’s Eve was three times the average for a December day.

Facebook also shared the data visualization below, depicting New Year’s Eve livestreaming activity across the globe.

Facebook owned messaging platform, Whatsapp, also announced that users around the world sent 75 billion messages on New Years Eve, including more than 13 billion images and 5 billion videos. This makes New Year’s Eve the platform’s biggest messaging day ever.
